lack of posts

sorry for the lack of posts and pictures, I have been kinda overwhelmed with orders and working all spare hours in the new studio. I will try and get some pics up! I’m off to oban this friday to take some scarves to a shop who is intertested- and am possibly going to start asking other potential places too.

Hopefull I’ll manage to get the rest of my things in the studio – loom is still wrapped up in the garden awaiting transport and so is the smaller wooden one inside and also my grandfathers stand which I use to sit on when weaving.

how to chart a design to cross stitch?

please could someone tell me how to chart a design for cross stitch embroidery…could you let me know where to find a how to? I’ve been looking but seem to only find designs….

lots of interest in these!

Wow! my waistcoats are going like CRAZY! I had a fantastic day at the made in the shade craft fair yesterday at the light house.

Here’s some pics!

All these waistcoats are available at my shop www.jemmajo.etsy.com

Also sold a lot of scarves which was good!

Downstairs tootsie is putting up the tree with daddy.

my findings

At last i’ve photographed my findings from the church bazaar that I went to and saw my grandpas windows. They were £1 each and I could not believe it when I saw the iitala vase – I’m sure they sell for around £40!

Tootsie of course loves the  mini etch a sketch!

Today I went to the local Church Bazaar and apart from getting some good things for christmas presents I was invited into the main church building to see my grandfathers windows. He has some gorgeous small windows in St johns Renfield Church which are like little jewels of colour in the big expanse of the building. Grandpa was an elder of the church and I did go there with him on sundays when I was little.
Seeing the with all the little details he was well known for -whizzed me back in time to sitting in his studio -usually listening to motzart – while he sat next to the gas fire diligently painting the tiniest details onto each piece of glass……….then the glass would be fired and would have to be sorted in numerical order in order to be leaded..this was often my job when I was there… He’d say “Emma I have a wee job for you on the other table” I’d look over and there would be trays and trays of glass sitting waiting to be ordered….There would be some empty trays with labels saying numbers 1- 107/ 108-297/298-403/404-561 etc and each piece of glass had a little number scratched on at the edge…. So I would do that for a bit while grandpa would tell me stories of his childhood or bad jokes.
I could only find this image as an example of his work on line…this isn’t from St Johns Renfield its from Dundonald.

new idea!

i’ve been thinking how to have a new product for men on the stall………..

so i’ve come up with these waistcoats which are 2ndhand and applique them with vintage fabrics like the scarves- what do you think?

didn’t work out the way i’d thought!

The craft fair at Byblos was mainly students so the cashmere wraps didn’t go down well…….infact – didn’t sell any! Had some people interested in looking and saying they are gorgeous but not willing to spend £39. Most of the stalls didn’t sell much and some like us didn’t even cover their cost of the stall…oh well it was for charity I guess….

Hopefully the one at the litehouse will be better apparently it is more of a mix of people who come….so here’s hoping … Any way at least i’ve got the stock already for it!

So that was our first craft fair!

colours,colors !

what should I do first? tan and golds?, more greys with subtle sparkles? purple with dark black purples ( purple is the new black they say!) I have to make as many scarves as I can!! Because each scarf is unique, its not a case of making another one of the same! It just can’t be done as we only have tiny amounts of each fabric which we are ‘up cycling’ into a luxury cashmere scarf. My brain is so full of different colourways to do that I’m finding it difficult to get started!

I’ve put samples of colour ranges in my shop www.jemmajo.etsy.com for people to choose colourways from -

I’m so ecxcited I’m just been told that more sample fabrics are coming from Paris for me to use on the scarves!!

more new scarves for the up and coming craft fairs!

New Scarves getting ready for the craft fair in Byblos Glasgow on the 25th of September!

Janice and I did a wee photo shoot yesterday for the application form for ‘made in the shade’ craft fair at the litehouse on 29th of October I hope we get in!

OOPS I’ve managed to put the same photo in twice!

I just love the grey/silver scarf and also the white one janice did!

She’s going to make some cards with the scrap bits”! I think they will look good!
