Been SO busy!!

Hi everyone sorry not to have been able to write much – have had a very busy summer  and last week my wee girl started school! Then this week I started teaching so everything has been very hectic….

Haven’t had time to put work in my etsy shops – though the scarves are doing really well and hopefully I’ll have lots of things to show you soon, I’ve been knitting a lot too recently so have some new things to show too..emily1st day

so new things well be uploaded soon ..also WASPS are doing open studios on the weekend of 3rd and 4th of October so am getting for that too

hooray! New Studio!

At last after 7 years of waiting I’ve got a new studio ! Can’t wait to have most of my stuff out of the house and my loom saved from the garden!!

Not quite sure how I’m going to afford it but I’ll just have to chase those potential commissions! ( I have a few) tapestry portaits in the potential pipe line!

Any way I’d better get on…

 just desperate to tell you!

happy new year when it comes!

everyone is stocking up for the festivities.

.me? no i’m looking forward to a quiet evening and start the new year afresh! (tommorropw – hogmanay) I’ll be tidying up after christmas to start the new year more organised – at least a bit! thats my new year resolution! I’ve got big descisions to make in 2009 – whether to invest more in the scarf and waitcoats or concentrate on my handwoven portraits…..bit of a conumdrum going on in my head!

Any way have a good one and I’ll see you in the new year!

TOO MUCH TO DO AND NO TIME TO WRITE!

What have I been up too? since I last posted?

Come back from Loch Fyne and a great relaxing holiday…beat janice 9 times out of 11 at scrabble!

Have sorted out my teaching at Langside college

Have made two commissions (scarves) and finished off portrait commission.

Have been to cinema twice with tootsie, wallee (rubbish) and space monkeys(better if slightly)

Have decided to do 2 craft fairs if poss one at Byblos glasgow 27th sept and other at lighthouse 27th oct

Have also decided to embelish small cotton bags as well as cashmere scarves -brains a buzzing with all my thoughts whizzing around at a million miles an hour… have also been watching what I eat and have lost 7lbs this week! amazing really…..

Got tootsie her new gymshoes for her new class tomorrow and also nursery starts for her too in the afternoon

write soon once I’ve calmed doon a bit!

At last i finished this commission! This has been my hardest tapestry yet I think! I am pretty happy with it! Though always as an artist  I always feel I’d weave it a little differently now if I was to start again!

This tapestry is about 29 x 20 cm and is hand woven using linen and cotton.

Hurray nearly finished ,it always seems slow this bit but I’m nearly there!
I really am pleased with it…its one of my most tricky portraits yet!
thought I’d also show you the threads  bought from the handweavers gallery which is a specialist shop in london.
These are singles hand dyed linens and are just to dye for literally! they are beautiful to work with and I love using them in my portraits.

make make make finish!

today i;’m sort of wean free so I’m going to try and finish my portrait tapestry and design at least one scarf.

purples and blues I’m thinking.I looked at the pantone prediction site for colours in the autumn and it was a bit of an eyeopener! So many predictions to choose from and all similar to an extent but different!

i’ve got so many half finished projects..I need to make a stance to myself and get things finished off! Then I don’t think I’ll be in so much of a guddle!

As alwauys I never seem to get a full day… there is always something to do out with making…today there is the nice distraction of my neices birthday party………..

Things to do….

Dolphin Square

Been staying in dolphin sq which is amazing experience! The wee one has loved it here in london…she’s been great -walking loads and become an expert on london play parks! Been to see lots of friends while here  .yesterday we went swimming in the famous pool at dolphin sq. Wean loved it!

My work went well , I was meeting other members of 62 group to look at 1st stage applications for membership. Took quite a long time but we all felt we’d done a great job and have chosen quite a wide selection for 2nd stage.

Also mangaed it to the handweavers studio on haroldstone rd -got some amazing singles hand dyed linen for my portraits – only had about 20 mins spare to get yarn but could have spent ages in there looking…….

Then after all met up with tim and dawn who’d gallantly been looking after the wean and we went to wagamammas on the south bank which was fantastic…had a really graet dinner and tootsie managec most of her dinner. Really brilliant to see polly who is looking really well….Then got taxi home!

today I think we are going to do the tates!

Going to shower and get ready to go which takes ages!

some of my portraits!
